Reflection Detail has been turned down to minimal. I find high is a good balance for my system. I like to have lots of buildings and trees in the scenery. I set the number of world objects to high. This also has a large drain on the system as it then draws shadows on every piece of scenery. Draw Shadowsĭraw shadows on scenery is turned off. If you aren’t running a 1080 or 2080, then I would really consider experimenting with this setting. This is probably one of the biggest drains on power. I have this set to none (Fast), as I find it has a large drain on my system. I will write another post later on how to set this properly. If you don’t have much ram, and notice that your computer really slows down, this may be one to experiment with. If you have lots of ram, then this can be maxed out. The Texture Quality is completely maxed out. I find I can max this out and still run nicely. I have set my visual effects to High (HDR). I believe to get the most of X-Plane 11, you need to experiment with these settings. ![]() ![]() Here you can really change how your game is running. I will go over the tabs that I find make a difference in your settings. In X-Plane 11, you have several tabs to play with. The first place is the most obvious, as it is the X-Plane 11 settings. There are two places to tweak your settings. I now only use X-Plane 11 and have noticed improvements in performance without FlyInside. With the settings below, I get 35 fps (90 fps headset) or 60 fps (90 headset) depending on one setting (resolution) that I will go over in this article.įor my VR flights, I used to use FlyInside and X-Plane 11, however X-Plane 11 recently released VR support. This will also give you an idea on how it will run with better or worse hardware then mine. My X-Plane 11 VR settings can help you get an idea what you can expect from a i5-7600k and GTX 1060. I think this is important to give you a starting point. I have not even started mapping anything yet, just verifying that selecting the left stick means I can see responses, and I don’t.So I have shown you what system I use but I haven’t went over what my settings are. If I move the right stick, I see indications of that movement in the x-axis/y-axis indicators for the left stick. When I select the left controller in the dropdown menu, if I move the thumb stick on the left controller I get no visible response from the left/right, up/down motions that would be displayed on the x-axis/y-axis indicators in the configuration section. What I describe as the weird left-to-right swap is this. I am using the touch controllers in their ‘basic’ configuration with no aircraft mappings (ie: trim). And I can’t find anywhere in the X-Plane configuration section where I can assign those functions (or edit those functions). Now, only my right one functions in that capacity and the only things that changed were Windows updates and an X-Plane patch. ![]() So in my case, I was able to use both the left and right controllers as cockpit interaction controllers - I could point with the green laser and select dials and such. For much better performance, make sure that the real mouse (the one next to your keyboard) is disabled in the X-Plane VR settings screen. One button needs to be zoom and one button needs to be reset view. I usually make the thumbstick (touchpad) on my flying controller the trim while keeping the other stick as VR teleport. And remember that some X-Plane VR commands must be assigned to one of both of the controllers. Once that is done, select the Right Controller for editing and make sure that you use only the Left Controller as your mouse. Use the RIGHT controller as your mouse and make a final check that is in fact the Left Controller that you are working on. Once that is done do not use the Left Controller to select any options. Properly done, and sorry but this explanation is extremely obvious, select say the Left Controller for edit. It is easy for forget which controller I am working on. I have had a similar problem to the one describes but in this case the confusion was on my end.
